Real Oviedo defender, Carlos Hernández, appeared in the Press Room this lunchtime following the team’s morning training session. They will have an evening session from 17:00. It is a heavy, but important, workload highlighted the centre back, saying that, “we are very keen to do it. It is a very intense load in order to recover from the week’s break we’ve had. We are going to a difficult ground, to face an opponent which is doing very well. They aren’t where they are in the league by chance. They are similar to us in that they play with intensity. We have to play well and get something from the game by whatever means.”
According to the defender, “all of the games are difficult. There are three more points at stake, and we will go there to compete. The team is in good shape, and that is important. We are confident, and alongside that we need to work hard and stay calm to keep doing things as well as possible. Any footballer likes to play against the teams at the top of the league, but you can only get three points whether you are up against the top or bottom team. However, they are a direct rival at the moment, and as such we want to get points there.”
In addition, Carlos Hernández declared his satisfaction with the team’s defensive solidity. “You can see that we all keep going until the end of every match, whatever the result. We must keep going like this, because we know that it’s not easy, and it all starts with the defensive work. As such, it’s what we must keep doing, since at the end of the season it will give us a lot of points.”
Finally, when asked about what he asks of 2018, Carlos Hernández was clear; “to not drop our standards, and to keep competing as we have done up until now, because we still have a lot of room to improve,” he concluded.
