Real Oviedo winger Borja Valle today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Borja Valle began by looking ahead to this weekend's encounter against Ponferradina, a team which he knows well, saying that "they are having a great season and I'm happy for them. It's the club of my city and the team I went to watch as a boy. It's special to me. When I was little I used to go and watch them, it's my home. I grew up there and started to watch football there."
Regarding the remainder of the season and the squad's aims for the run-in, the attacker commented that "we've come through a difficult month, a real test, and we've done it at a high level. We still have time to do anything, but we need to secure survival as soon as possible and keep believing. We mustn't get obsessed or keep thinking about the playoffs. It's about taking it a week at a time."
On an individual level, the winger highlighted that "I am happy, preparing at 100%, and when I am involved I try to contribute. I am happy with my performances. I am selfish and I want to play, just like everyone else does. I understand and accept the situation, and I train as well as possible so that I'm ready."
Asked whether competition for places is playing a part in his lack of minutes, Borja Valle reasoned that "perhaps, but it's a good thing that we have good players and the Coach has options. I have to keep working ready for when I get my chance. I've spoken to the Coach and I accept it. I am here to contribute. I want to add something, and when the Coach thinks I can do so then I will do it."
With respect to signing for Real Oviedo and whether he regrets having returned to the team from the capital of Asturias, Borja stated that "it's a privilege for me and I am grateful to be here. On a working level it's what I've always dreamt of. I am very proud to be here and I hope it goes as well as possible."
Finally, comparing his two spells at Real Oviedo, Borja Valle explained that "the team is more consolidated now. Clubs mature and their objectives and ambitions change. I see a stable, solid club, and I know that at some point Real Oviedo is going to achieve the objective."
