Real Oviedo went into Matchday 17 of LaLiga Smartbank with three intentions: turning the draw in Leganés into a good point, winning at the Carlos Tartiere, and sending the fans home happy with a victory. In the end the Asturians would triumph 2-0 over SD Amorebieta.

Real Oviedo clearly dominated the first half, taking charge of the ball and pushing Amorebieta back, with the visitors looking to counter it with long balls to their front men. Viti, who put in a very good attacking performance, made the score 1-0 with a fine finish. Real Oviedo continued to look to increase the lead after opening the scoring, and it would be Borja Sánchez who doubled the advantage. The ball was headed back across goal from a set piece, and the academy graduate converted with his head. The two teams went in for halftime with the score 2-0.
The Basques took a step forward after the interval and looked to cut the deficit, enjoying a good fifteen minutes. Real Oviedo readjusted and took control of the game once more, with a few chances to extend the lead still further. Real Oviedo put in a good team performance to pick up three important points and get back to winning ways.
