A Statement Victory
The B team came out on top in a crazy 4-2 win against Lenense, in which Jaime Álvarez's side was more clinical in front of a goal
Under a heavy downpour this afternoon at El Requexón, Real Oviedo Vetusta picked up another victory, this time beating SD Lenense 4-2.
Jaime Álvarez rotated his starting eleven out on Pitch 1, opting for: B.Hórreo; Marc Alegre, Lucas Laso, René Pérez, Victor Matovu; Mangel, Yayo, Isaac; David Iglesias, Chus and Javi Cueto.
The first half of the match was a roller coaster affair. The opening stages were very hard-fought, seeing barely any chances for either team, before an exciting spell in which both teams had opportunities and brought great intensity to the encounter. Lucas Laso gave Los Azules the lead from a corner kick, making the most of a rebound from a Javi Cueto header. Chus then extended the lead from a David Iglesias cross, before Lenense cut the deficit to 2-1. Real Oviedo Vetusta did not let their heads drop following the setback, and a great strike from Mangel from outside the box re-established the two-goal margin. The visitors made the score 3-2 just before the interval.
The match continued in a similar fashion after the break, with both sides having chances, although the B team had the better of the opportunities. Jaime Álvarez turned to his bench to bring on first Alex Cardero, then Eloy Ordoñéz and Merayo, and finally Pedregal and Moreno. The final goal of the game saw Javi Cueto convert from the penalty spot, making the final score 4-2.
These were three important points for the B team, who made the most of results elsewhere to extend the lead still further at the top of the table. Real Oviedo Vetusta's next fixture will see the side face CD Covadonga at the Álvarez Rabanal.
