Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón after the team trained behind closed doors.

The Coach began by analysing the feeling around the team following the week of training, saying, “we are in good shape, as always. We are training well, excited, and hopeful. We are going to Córdoba to get a good result.” In addition, asked about the chances of Steven Prieto featuring in the matchday squad, Anquela said that, “we will weigh things up tomorrow. He’s a young boy and has time on his side, and I am sure that he will be important for Real Oviedo. We need to stay calm and take it little by little.”

With respect to the next opponent, Córdoba, Juan Antonio Anquela highlighted that “they are on a good run and have had good results. They are doing things well and that’s why they are winning games. This league is so tight, and any team can go on a good run. They are a serious side, who have a new Coach and are scoring goals. It will be a difficult match.” In addition, regarding the great atmosphere expected at the Nuevo Arcángel and how that may affect the team, the Coach highlighted that, “these are the games you want to play in. We have gone to full grounds and we haven’t crumpled. I want my team to compete at the Nuevo Arcángel.”

Asked about the evenness which exists in the division, with very few points separating a large number of teams at the top of the table, the Coach believes that, “there will be a lot of twists and turns from here until the end of the season in the race for those top positions. It gets harder and more even every year and we have to know how to compete, stick together, and try to make the most of good spells. Winning points is the only thing that counts in this league.”

Regarding the importance of achieving a victory at the Nuevo Arcángel and what the team has to do in order to triumph, the Coach commented that, “you have to give a lot of things. First of all, we need to keep a clean sheet. After that, we need to be a team that competes. Finally, we need to play good football. I’m not going to change my words.”

Finally, asked about the way in which Real Oviedo have shared the goals around the squad, the Coach made it clear that, “I don’t care who scores. It’s true that it’s good to have someone who lives for goals, but it’s welcome if the defenders score too,” he concluded.
