Real Oviedo Head Coach Juan Antonio Anquela appeared before the press following today’s training session at El Requexón.

The Real Oviedo Coach began by assessing the state of the injured players, starting with Tejera who “has a knock. We are taking extra care of him” but he hopes to have him available. As for the others, the Coach has to take into account suspensions, in a week which has been “fairly complicated, but we have to turn over a new page and think about what comes next.” Anquela was disappointed about “not being able to give our fans something to enjoy, which is what they deserved. It was a pity.” When asked about events over the past few days, Anquela downplayed the situation by focusing on on-field matters, calling for “as much sense as possible”, despite not being used to playing football in front of an empty stadium. He did admit that it is difficult to be isolated from what is going on. The Coach stated that “it takes a lot to rise up out of a situation like this, when you see a player crying out of helplessness. In that moment we did not know how to handle what football threw at us, but now we have it under control. The sooner we forget about it, the better.”

Moreover, and referring to Dépor, Anquela emphasised that “we just have to look at what they’ve got, and what happened in the reverse fixture. With very little, they made us pay. They are a team that is very strong in all areas of the game, and we are clear that we are facing one of the best teams in the divisions, without any doubt.”

When asked about possession, and the dominance in the last match, despite the result, the Real Oviedo coach pointed out that “in Mallorca we had more possession, as well as on Sunday. What I like is winning. Sometimes it will be through possession, and other times through efficiency. In the last few matches we have had possession and perhaps we haven’t been as efficient as we should be. We try to be a balanced team. Sometimes we are and sometimes we aren’t.”

Finally, Anquela concluded by stating that “we have to keep our hopes high, and this team has never stopped believing. That is a strength that we have always held up.”
