El Requexón today played host to another league fixture for Real Oviedo Vetusta, in which the home side picked up another three points, this time beating CD Izarra 2-1.

A minute’s silence was held prior to kick-off in memory of José Martínez’s grandfather. Javi Rozada’s side emerged strongly for the match and took the lead through Borja’s goal. Minutes later, the visitors responded to
the opener with the equaliser, heading home from inside the six-yard box. The B team reacted well and took control of the play and the best opportunities but couldn’t make the most of any of them. The Real Oviedo
attackers tried to work their way through to the away goal but couldn’t convert their chances. The B team pushed on in the second half and kept trying to break through, with Ernesto, Steven, Borja and Rober all having chances. ‘Los Azules’ dominated possession, with the central midfielders linking up very well, and made the most of the mobility of their attacking players. From one of these passages of play, Ernesto was brought down in the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Lolo González converted from the spot, which was enough to give Real Oviedo Vetusta the victory at El Requexón.

Real Oviedo Vetusta earned another three points today and strengthened their play-off place. Next week they visit the league leaders, Racing de Santander.
