The Carlos Tartiere crowd rose up behind their team, and Javi Rozada's side gave them reasons to believe right up until the final whistle. The fans responded, on what was a crucial evening for Los Azules, who did not want to spend a single day more without securing the first victory of the season.

A couple of tweaks to the starting eleven saw Joselu partner Ortuño up front, and Javi Rozada's side quickly found themselves in front. Saúl passed the ball into the box in the second minute, Joselu let the ball run, and the team's topscorer fired home the opener. In the process, Ortuño added his sixth of the season, making him the leading scorer in the division, and bringing the Tartiere crowd to its feet. The match developed in the way the hosts had planned. They were organised in defence, and didn't allow the visitors to create too many chances, with Nereo Champagne having to intervene on only a couple of occasions. The team were winning possession back quickly, and the next opportunity fell to Joselu. His header from Saúl's ball in was cleared for a corner. Sangalli fired wide on the break, before Joselu had another chance from a Saúl pass, but the forward was denied by the keeper this time. However, an error in the Real Oviedo defence was then deemed a penalty, and Luis Suárez levelled the scores for Zaragoza from the spot.

After the break, the Asturians were awarded a penalty following a VARcheck, when Ortuño was brought down in the box. Ortuño converted his second goal of the day from the spot to make the score 2-1. However, Luis Suárez added his second and equalised for Real Zaragoza ten minutes later. Real Oviedo kept trying after that, but with more heart than actual chances created. Rozada freshened things up by bringing on Lolo, Borja Sánchez and Yoel Bárcenas, and although the team had some opportunities and pushed forward in attack, they couldn't find the winner.

The Tartiere bid farewell to their team with applause, as they go into a week with two matches. The next fixture is against Tenerife this Wednesday, at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
