Guillermo Almada appeared this Friday before the media ahead of the last training session of the week, before the match that will see Real Oviedo face Girona this Saturday at the Carlos Tartiere. The blue coach was clear from the start and described the match as "a final," emphasizing the importance of securing three points to start a positive dynamic.
"We approach the match as a final. We need to get three points to get into a positive streak," said Almada, who stressed the need to maintain a strong competitive mindset. "Attitude is in the mind, not in the conditions, and we cannot lack that. The mental aspect is key," he remarked.
Regarding the opponent, the Oviedo coach highlighted Girona's quality and the work of their coaching staff, although he focused on his own team's performance. "Beyond analyzing the opponent, what concerns us most is that we play a good game, that we stay active in attack, regain defensive solidity, and avoid repeating mistakes that, against teams of this level, are very costly," he explained.
Almada also addressed several individual situations. Regarding Thiago Fernández, he highlighted his good adaptation both on a personal and football level. "He is a winger who has integrated very well into the group, and we believe he can bring us positive things as an offensive option," he said.
In relation to the closing of the transfer market, the coach confirmed that the Club is still working to strengthen the offensive front. "Efforts are being made to try to add another player up front. It is not easy, but the intention is to expand our offensive options," he indicated.
Regarding Álex Forés, Almada was clear: "We are still counting on him. He can complement Fede in the offensive area and is training well." In the case of Dendoncker, he explained that the decisions are based on tactical and team balance issues, although he appreciated his daily commitment in training.
About Ovie Ejaria, the coach ruled out a departure and expressed confidence in his contribution once he recovers: "He is recovering from the injury and can provide us with offensive options that we currently lack."
The coach also spoke about the pressure and the team's current moment. "We have experienced players who know how to handle pressure. A positive result generates confidence, and the fans will always be there if the team shows effort on the field," he affirmed.
Regarding the starting lineup, he did not rule out changes. "We will surely make some changes. We continuously analyze performance to choose the players who are in the best form and can contribute the most," he pointed out.
Finally, Almada wanted to highlight the support of the blue fans and the atmosphere expected at the Carlos Tartiere. "Our fans are our 12th player. We feel their constant support, and hopefully, we can repay it with a victory that brings joy to everyone," he concluded.
