It was only worth winning and they won. Real Oviedo defeated Girona FC this Saturday 1-0 thanks to a goal by Ilyas Chaira in the second half, and the blues added three points again at the Carlos Tartiere to keep believing in staying up. With the final whistle, Oviedo fans smiled again after a long time and celebrated three points that lifted the spirits of the entire Carbayón fanbase.

Aarón Escandell, Nacho Vidal, Costas, Carmo, Javi López, Colombatto, Sibo, Reina, Hassan, Ilyas Chaira, and Fede Viñas. That’s how Real Oviedo lined up at the Carlos Tartiere in a match where Girona FC started better. Michel's team controlled the game from the beginning and had possession, while Guillermo Almada's side struggled to take control of the ball and create chances on the opponent's goal.

Despite the good start by the Catalan team, Real Oviedo held on during the first half and went into halftime with a goalless draw. After the restart, the Oviedo team came out with more intensity and went in search of the three points. Thiago Fernández and Santi Cazorla replaced Hassan and Reina in the 64th minute, and the game changed.

Ten minutes later, after Fonseca and Lucas entered the field, a great combination play by Cazorla, Javi López, and Thiago Fernández ended with a goal by Ilyas Chaira. The winger finished off a perfect chain of passes to score easily and make it 1-0, sending Oviedo fans into a frenzy at the Carlos Tartiere.

Girona threw everything forward in search of an equalizer, but an Oviedo team full of grit, courage, and determination managed to hold on in every way to secure a vital victory. With these three points, the Carbayón team now has a total of 16 points and continues to believe in the fight for survival.
