Real Oviedo today returned to Anoeta, now known as the Reale Arena, six years and ten months on from the last visit. Today's opponent was Real Sociedad B, in Matchday 10 in LaLiga SmartBank. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Femenías; Lucas, Dani Calvo, David Costas, Mossa; Sangalli, Brugman, Jimmy, Borja Sánchez; Obeng and Viti made up the starting eleven for Cuco Ziganda. The first half was fairly uneventful, with all of the action packed into the second half.
The first 45 minutes saw the teams at deadlock. Samu Obeng had the clearest chance, but was unable to convert. Los Azules were focused in defence and dealt with the danger created by the team from San Sebastián. The teams went in for halftime with the scores still 0-0.
All of the action came in the second half, when Real Oviedo were capable of coming back and improving following an initial setback. La Real B took the lead at the start of the half, but Los Azules did not let their heads drop. Ziganda brought on Borja Bastón, Javi Mier y Joni Montiel. The striker would make an immediate impact, lifting the ball over the keeper to level the scores. The coach then brought on Pombo, as Real Oviedo continued to try to win the match. Borja Sánchez and Mossa had a double opportunity as the ball broke from a corner, but couldn't make it pay. Arribas came on in the final substitution, and the match ended all-square.
Los Azules picked up another point today and will be back in action in midweek, when they face Burgos at the Carlos Tartiere.
