Real Oviedo and Alcorcón came face-to-face at Santo Domingo this evening in Matchday 32 of LaLiga Smartbank. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The side from the capital of Asturias made eight changes for this evening's game, opting for a starting eleven of Femenías, Johannesson, Carlos Hernández, Arribas, Bolaño, Lucas; Jimmy, Edgar, Javi Mier; Obeng and Rodri Ríos. Today's was the second of the three games that the team face this week.
Alcorcón started the first half the stronger side, taking the lead after just a minute. Real Oviedo found it hard to gain a foothold in the fixture, but began to fight back from the 30th minute onwards. Ziganda's side looked to long balls to threaten Dani Jiménez in the hosts' net. Rodri was the first to have the chance to equalise, but the home defence managed to clear his effort off the line. The Asturians continued to push for a leveller, and tested the home keeper. Obeng did manage to hit the back of the net in the 40th minute, but, after consulting VAR, the referee judged him to have been very narrowly offside. The two teams went in for the interval with the score 1-0.
The second half saw Real Oviedo take control of possession and Alcorcón drop back into their own box. The home side only threatened on the counter attack and they were unable to make the most of any of their opportunities. One of Real Oviedo's best chances in the second half came from a set piece. Javi Mier swung the ball in and Carlos headed back across goal from the back post, but Obeng was just unable to turn the ball home, with his headergrazing the post. Ziganda brought on Sangalli, Tejera and Nahuel as he looked for greater fluency in the Real Oviedo attack. Borja Valle and Blanco Leschuk came on in the final changes. A fine piece of play down the right wing saw Johannesson play the ball to Javi Mier, who crossed the ball in for Blanco Leschuk to head home the equaliser. Real Oviedo pushed for a winner in the final minutes, and Javi Mier had a decent opportunity, but he couldn't quite guide the ball home.
Real Oviedo won another point tonight and will return to training at El Requexón tomorrow, as they begin to prepare for the match against Castellón. Los Azules will travel to Castalia on Saturday, with the match kicking off at 18:15.
