Real Oviedo goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Real Oviedo goalkeeper, Alfonso Herrero, started his press conference by “sending my condolences to the Reyes family.” He continued by talking about the postponement of Sunday’s match against Rayo Majadahonda, saying that “it’s normal that the fixture was moved. It is a difficult situation for Extremadura and we are behind them.”
With respect to being a starter against Rayo, the keeper said that “I've been preparing all week. I am very excited to return home, wanting to show that I am still here and that I want to go back to being a starter. The people who watch me train know that I have not given up. This is a reward. I’ve had to take on this role this year, and it had to be done. I am very excited to play on Tuesday.”
When asked about the week of training and the limited prospects of reaching the playoffs, the goalkeeper commented that “it is difficult. This week has been a bit difficult; it's complicated, but there is still a chance. We will fight to the end. This is football and a lot of things can happen. We're going to give our best performance for our fans.” In addition, regarding the similarities to previous seasons, Alfonso pointed out that “this is my third year here, and though they have all been the same, we must understand that this is a tough division. The team has never stopped giving everything on the pitch. We have always tried to play in the best possible way. Real Oviedo has to continue moving forward to achieve the objective of being promoted.”
Lastly, asked for his personal evaluations about the squad, Alfonso reasoned that “this is not the time to judge the team. We are going to play until the end and then we will analyse it. The minor details are important, but we must value the points we have earned,” he concluded.
