Aarón Ñíguez appeared in the Press Room this morning following the team’s training session at El Requexón. He lamented yesterday’s draw, but argued that, “the team played very well. We worked hard and were only lacking a goal. It’s a shame. We were feeling really good and we scored, but it was disallowed. It’s true that on this current run we are finding it harder to win the three points, but we felt better yesterday than in other matches. We aren’t having much luck, but we mustn’t keep going over it in our minds.”

Aarón is of the opinion that the team is lacking “a bit of luck in attack. We are creating chances, but we are on this poor run. We need persistence, hard work and humility, as this is what will let us get closer to our objective. We have never had any doubts. It’s true that results give you confidence and we aren’t getting them, but the team is strong and has the same feeling as at the start of the season.”

Asked about poor periods of form, such as now and the one earlier in the season, Aarón explained that, “it means we are reliving the emotions from the start of the season, when we were playing well but not getting the results. Above all else the tranquillity and confidence we have make us capable of winning three points at any stadium.”

With respect to whether the team would prefer to pick up victories even when not playing well, the winger responded without hesitation, saying, “we would all opt for that. Winning is the most important thing, but right now how we are playing is important for the confidence of the squad.”

Next up is a trip to Tenerife, which Aarón admitted will be “a special match for me. The year I spent there was very good, both professionally and on a personal level,” he concluded.
