Real Oviedo visited La Romareda with the clear aim of continuing to pick up points to stay close to the playoff positions, and managed to do so against a difficult opponent in Real Zaragoza.
Ziganda made several changes from the line-up he used last time out against Girona. Mossa came in at left back, while Jirka started on the wing, with Viti moved into a striker position. The team from the capital of Asturias emerged brightly for the match, with Borja Sánchez first to try his luck in the second minute. The first half was a hard-fought affair between the two sides, however, featuring very few chances. Real Zaragoza looked to take control of the encounter, while Real Oviedo made the most of a high pressing game to force the hosts into losing the ball. The front men tried to make something happen during the first half, but could not convert any of their opportunities, and halftime arrived with the score 0-0.
Zaragoza carried the weight of the game in the second half, threatening a Real Oviedo side which was forced to work hard in defence to counter the threat of the hosts. Ziganda brought Montiel first, then Javi Mier and Pombo, and finally Arribas and Matheus Aiás. The game ended with Los Azules trying to break the deadlock, but unable to find a way through.
Los Azules added another point to the tally today. The team will begin preparations for next weekend's fixture against Sporting de Gijón at 17:00 tomorrow.
