The crowd departed the Tartiere with a bitter taste in their mouths.  This was a defeat at a key moment in the season, despite the team pushing tocome from behind after a poor first half.
The first match of Javi Rozada's touchline ban saw Benavides take the reigns and two defensive changes, with Juanjo Nieto and Carlos Hernández returning from suspension.  Real Oviedo had the first chance of the
encounter, with Ibra firing over the bar from a Saúl pass.  Alcorcón hit back, opening the scoring from their first attack.  A move down the wing led to Stoichkov making the score 1-0.  The Asturians found it hard to
react.  They struggled to generate attacks and were being outplayed, despite their opponents not creating too many chances either.  The first half ended on an even worse note, as VAR gave the visitors a penalty.  On first viewing, the passage of play seemed to include an offside.  Stoichkov grabbed his second from the spot, and the teams went in for halftime with the score 0-2.
Real Oviedo reacted with greater possession and numerous chances in the second half.  Borja Sánchez and Ortuño came on from the bench, and the latter converted another penalty, with VAR this time awarding Real Oviedo a spot kick for handball.  The Tartiere crowd pushed its team on in search of the equaliser.  Los Azules saw chances fall to Saúl, Ibra, Rodrigo, and even Luismi, but Dani Jiménez in the Alcorcón goal managed to prevent all of their efforts.
The defeat brings the team's unbeaten run to an end.  Real Oviedo travel to face CD Lugo next weekend.
