Real Oviedo Vetusta played the latest league fixture this afternoon against Pontevedra, with Emilio Cañedo's team triumphing 1-0.
The B team earnt an important, and much-needed, victory, which allows them to catch their breath and move away from the relegation zone. Pontevedra emerged the stronger side in the first half, creating chances, but found themselves up against a fantastic performance by Berto in goal for the Asturians. Vetusta gradually began to look to find a way through, with several attacks and chances which they were unable to convert. The teams went in for halftime level. Real Oviedo Vetusta took a step further forward after the break and began to take control of the match, while also dealing well with the attacks constructed by the Galician side. Los Azules found the opener in the 69th minute through Obeng. Riki and Jorge Mier linked up well, and the Ghanaian striker provided the finishing touch to make the score 0-1. The Carbayón B team continued to control the match after the goal and even had chances to extend the lead, but was unable to convert a second goal.
Real Oviedo Vetusta added another three points to the tally today, moved out of the relegation places, and recovered morale ahead of the next match, which will see them face Coruxo at home. Los Azules will play the Galician side at 16:00 next Saturday.
