Real Oviedo Vetusta went into the fifth game of the season today with the aim of ending the week with a clean sweep of victories, and achieved that target with a 2-1 victory over CD Lealtad.
Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of Marco; Pablo Menéndez, René Pérez, Javi Moreno, Viti; Yayo, Alex Cardero, Joselu; Eloy Ordóñez, Chus and Javi Cueto. The team improved as the match went on against a Lealtad de Villaviciosa side who did not make things easy.
The teams swapped blow for blow in the first half, with Real Oviedo Vetusta looking to dominate the encounter and Lealtad well-organised defensively, and the visitors gave very little away to the team from the capital of Asturias. The away side won a penalty after Yayo brought a man down in the area, but Marco made a great save to keep the score 0-0. Soon afterwards, a fine piece of play saw Javi Cueto set up Eloy Órdoñez to give Los Carbayones the lead. Lealtad looked to play more directly, while Real Oviedo Vetusta sought to link up and control the play through possession. The first half ended 1-0.
After the break, the B team scored once more. Javi Cueto headed home the cross from Eloy Órdoñez, to leave the away keeper helpless. As the minutes ticked by the B team kept hold of possession and had the better of the chances. Lealtad, meanwhile, were very compact defensively and looked to stop the threat of Los Azules. Jaime Álvarez brought on Osky, Mangel and David Iglesias in the first changes, before later calling upon Álvaro Pedregal and Merayo. The visitors grabbed a late consolation goal, and pushed for an equaliser in added time, but they could not find the leveller.
Nine points from nine this week allow Jaime Álvarez's side to sit top of the league and reaffirm the good feeling around the team's performances. On Wednesday the team will begin to prepare for Sunday's fixture against Luarca.
