Real Oviedo Head Coach Cuco Ziganda appeared before the media today ahead of the match against Amorebieta.
As is the norm in press conferences prior to LaLiga encounters, the Coach began by analysing the state of his squad going into Saturday's fixture, saying that "the only absentees are Lucas and Javi Mier. In theory Arribas will be ok. He's trained normally and has completed the week with the rest of his teammates."
One player who could possibly come in to replace Lucas at full back is Carlos Isaac. Regarding the role the defender may play against Amorebieta, Ziganda commented that "he's already played in Ponferrada. He's found it hard to break into the team, but he did a good job there. He had a knock, but he had a chance of staying in the team. Now he has another opportunity and we hope he performs at a good level, enjoys it, and helps us to get the three points."
With respect to the importance of the Amorebieta fixture, the Gaffer reasoned that "all of the matches are important. I think that we have to focus on Amorebieta and on the problems they are going to cause us. We need to counteract their strengths and we have to be focused. Each match is worth three points. I've been following their progress, I've watched them play, and I know the type of team they are. They compete and they have adapted to the division well, that's the reality. They have good numbers, and anyone who thinks that it will be easy is mistaken."
Asked about the importance of getting three points in order to take a step forward and move towards the playoff positions, Ziganda believes that "it's very difficult to improve. Taking that step up seems easy, but we have to do a lot of things well. We need to bring a progression to what we are doing and improve on what we are doing well. It's very difficult to get ahead in this division. We need to win."
Finally, regarding what he is expecting from Saturday at the Tartiere, the Coach stated that "they can change their personnel and rotate the team, but their style of play doesn't change. The coach knows what he wants from them and they use his build-up play to perfection. They are a newly-promoted team, but it's difficult to win in this division, and what they did last season deserves a lot of credit. Amorebieta give their all in every match and they have weapons which they use to perfection."
