Ziganda: "I'm here to get the best out of everybody"

In light of absentees and possible changes to the eleven, the Coach believes that in football, as in life, "you never know how one opportunity might change things for you"

Real Oviedo Head Coach José Angel Ziganda appeared before the Press this morning ahead of the trip to Sabadell, analysing the atmosphere around the team going into the clash. The team's recent results haven't affected their physical condition, with the Coach reasoning that "winning or otherwise often comes down to finishing and quality in key moments. Being clinical in the opposition area and in your own one decides matches. Against Fuenlabrada we were more at the mercy of the opponent, whereas I felt that the team was good against Lugo. Alcorcón didn't allow us to create many chances, but we had some. All the matches are very even and we have to work hard."
With changes on the horizon because "the circumstances require it", both due to absences and due to the fixture schedule, Cuco Ziganda also made another reason clear, saying that "there are players who deserve to play and to demonstrate what they have been doing in training."
In addition, with respect to the options for change at centre back and in centre midfield, Edgar could move back into defence, "but I'm not sure yet." The Gaffer was however clear about the fact that "the Coach is there to get the best out of every player. While we are losing some height and strength in the team, we will have other characteristics."
Regarding one of the players who could cover the absences in central midfield, Ziganda said that Aburjania "is a possibility. It's a shame that for one reason or another we haven't yet seen him at his best, for many different reasons. We all have to adapt and it's about selecting the best players, and a team that we think will give us the best chance of winning. I have no commitment to any particular player and, for me, all of the players are equals. It's what I always say: there are 25 players and only eleven can play." The Coach is convinced of Jimmy's "quality in training", meanwhile, saying that "he is in perfect condition to play, should he get the chance." With respect to Javi Mier, Ziganda said that "for me, his best position is in central midfield, so of course he is an option too."
The Real Oviedo Head Coach also reasoned that "the Coach can pick one eleven or another, and we also must avoid loading too much pressure onto the players who haven't been playing. It's like in life. You never know in what moment one opportunity can change everything for you. It's a privilege to play a match at this level and in this division, and it's a chance to demonstrate what we work on during the week."
Moving on to discuss the opponent, Ziganda stated that "they've had a tough time at the start of the season, but they are improving. They know the situation they are in, but they are dealing with it better than other teams down there, and that brings you tranquility in that situation. The LaLiga season is long and they have time. They have bounced back in terms of their play and they have a matchwinner up front and their core from last year. They are fighting back and improving."
Finally, regarding the team's form, the Coach declared that "the point tally is what it is and we'd like to have more. There's not only one reason for it, but we think we should have more. There are some situations that we can't control and we could have done better. Our only idea is to make teams which improve each day, and we are finding it hard to be consistent. Our inconsistent start is punishing us. All of the matches are even and it's the small details that decide whether you get the result or not. We have to be mature and work each day to improve and move up the table. I can't point out just one reason."
