In a matchday marked by the cold and rain lashing down on the Principality of Asturias, Sporting B and Real Oviedo Vetusta faced off at Mareo. The game ended in a 1-0 away win for Los Azules.
Emilio Cañedo's side lined up on a Pitch 1 at Mareo with a starting eleven made up of B. Hórreo; David Ámez, Ando, Pedro Inglés, Prada; Rober, Joselu G., Guille Bernabéu; V. Teles, Ton Ripoll and Javi Cueto, and dominated the match from start to finish. Los Azules had to adapt to the conditions during the first half, following heavy downpours this morning, but they managed to prevent Sporting B from creating barely any chances, whilecreating the better of the opportunities themselves. The referee alsodisallowed two Vetusta goals. The first was ruled out for a very tight offside call against Javi Cueto, while the second because of a foul supposedly committed by Pedro Inglés as he slotted the ball home. Cuetothen had another chance to open the scoring, but was denied by the keeper. The two teams went in for halftime with the score 0-0, but with a very good feeling around the Real Oviedo Vetusta side's performance.
Things continued in the same fashion after the break, with Real Oviedo Vetusta threatening the goal being defended by Christian Yoel and staying very well-organised in defence, not allowing the side from Gijón any real opportunities. Vanderson, Ripoll and Javi Cueto tried relentlessly to find a way through. Berto Hórreo pulled out a great save from a one-on-one to prevent the home side from taking the lead, before Eloy Ordóñez entered the field. It would be he who created the only goal of the game, as Vanderson converted the only goal of the game at the back post. Emilio Cañedo brought Steven on after the goal, and the forward got in behind the Sporting B defence on several occasions, creating opportunities to extend the lead.
This Real Oviedo Vetusta victory at Mareo saw Cañedo's side add three important points to their tally and continue their derby winning streak
