The Carlos Tartiere today hosted the latest league fixture for Real Oviedo Vetusta. Emilio Cañedo's team found itself up against Sporting B, and won the match 3-2.
Los Azules emerged at the home of the first team aware of the importance of putting in a good performance against their local rivals and beginning another good run of form, like the one they had been enjoying in recent weeks. Vetusta dominated the first half, outplaying Sporting B and making the most of some good finishing. They were solid in defence, pressed high up the pitch, and played with greater intensity than the visitors. Real Oviedo Vetusta began to control the match, and Riki twisted and turned before firing home a great opening goal. Real Sporting B equalised, but Emilio Cañedo's team did not lose their heads, with Prada and Viti quickly restoring and then extending the lead. The teams went in for halftime with the score 3-1.
Vetusta felt the effects of their first-half physical exertions after the interval. However, they were well-organised in defence and waited for the Sporting attacks, dealing with the majority without any problems. The Real Oviedo B team had several chances, but lacked the end product they had shown during the first half. Sporting B cut the deficit just before the 90th minute.
This was another derby victory for the Real Oviedo B team, who are now seven unbeaten against their biggest rival. It allowed them to climb the table and regain confidence ahead of next weekend's trip to Ibiza.
