Real Oviedo and Veljko Paunovic have reached an agreement for the Serbian to confinue as the First-Team Head Coach until June 2026.
The coach will remain in charge of Los Carbayones in the top flight during the new campaign after securing the long-desired promotion to Primera División.
Veljko Paunovic, who arrived at the Asturian capital on 26th March, produced a sensational end to the regular league campaign, leading the team to seven victories and three draws in ten matches. This fine form saw Real Oviedo finish the regular league season in third place. In the playoffs Los Azules would go on to eliminate UD Almería in the semifinal, before beating CD Mirandés in the final and fulfilling the dreams of an entire city, which will never forget 21st June 2025.
The Coach goes into the new adventure in Primera División accompanied by Claudio Arzeno, Nuno Miguel Gomes, Quinton Fortune, and Alberto Martínez once more, while Jesús Unanua returns to become the club's goalkeeping coach again.
This renewal sees the Gaffer demonstrate his full commitment to the club and to the Grupo Pachuca project for the new season.
