Real Oviedo has bid farewell to the season of the return of the Oviedistas to the Carlos Tartiere stadium, after the complicated COVID period now, fortunately, in the past, with the final number of season ticket holders at 18,362.
Despite the fact that the 2021-22 season started with capacity restrictions, prevention measures, access time slots, and a series of conditions that were gradually reduced as the season progressed, as COVID cases decreased. It was not until the last stretch of the season that the fans were able to enjoy the matches in the same conditions as they did prior the pandemic. The only rule that remains in place, by regulations of the authorities, is that of smoking on the stadium grounds.
The club has been pleased to see the ways in which the team and fans have grown in unity throughout the season, as the season-ticket numbers improved both in the second campaign and thanks to the special offers launched for the end of the season. We saw the number of season-ticket holders eventually exceed 18,000.
The numbers have improved greatly from those of the past two seasons, including the last campaign prior to COVID. In the 2019-20 season, the club had 18,040 season-ticket holders. Meanwhile last season, which was played entirely without a crowd in the stadium, the number of season-ticket holders was 17,601 members. The highest number prior to those mentioned was in the 2018-19 season, which ended with 20,046.
