Real Oviedo midfielder Sergio Tejera appeared in the Press Room today, following the first team's return to training.
How is the squad doing after the match?
- It's good, we are all very happy after winning the derby. I hope the victory brings us some calm and helps us to keep working. We deserved a victory like that.
The team needed a win like that to underline its good performances, and it got it. What were the keys to the match?
- Getting back to our identity; not giving anything away in defence and focusing. The team played a perfect match.
Captain in the derby and one of your best performances. What's your analysis?
- We play and train for days like yesterday. I am delighted to help the team, and now we have to keep working.
How did you feel when taking the penalty? Did you ever doubt how to take it?
- I was clear about how to take it. I felt confident, and decided to take it like that. I am very happy with the goal.
Javi Fuego said that Real Oviedo celebrated the victory as if the club were winning the title, and that despite everything, Sporting has 12 points and Real Oviedo 6. What do you think about his remarks?
- I understand Javi, he wants to take weight away from the defeat. Being Asturian, he knows the importance of the match; it's special for everyone. We lived it in that way, and I think you can see that in the celebration. We beat our rival and we are happy with the victory. They were top of the table, they have more points, but Javi knows why we are happy.
The fans weren't in the ground, but they did go there with you. It's become a habit now, hasn't it?
- It's a shame that we can't experience matches like that with our fans and that they can't enjoy the match. I want to thank them, we knew they were with us.
After the match, Ziganda praised your work on and off the pitch, highlighting your maturity and drive. What did you make of his comments?
- I am grateful to the Coach for his belief. I try to repay it in the best
way I can.
A difficult stage of the season is coming up, bearing in mind the opponents and tight schedule. How do you approach it?
- With a lot of hunger. We are going to work calmly and focus on what we do. We have got used to playing every three days, so there is no problem there.
Can you tell us what the celebration meant after the goal?
- It's for my people, I always dedicate goals to them.
