Saúl Berjón: "All the best to everyone"

The Real Oviedo captain is constantly communicating with Arturo Elías and the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE), and hopes that "everything gets solved"

As we go into a new week, and with the nation still complying with the lockdown imposed by the State of Alert, Real Oviedo captain Saúl Berjón welcomes us into his home and answers the questions put to him by the Press.
In the midst of the exceptional situation that we are going through, how are you dealing with spending so much time at home?  Does football take a back seat?
- We are dealing with it as best we can.  Everyone has things to do at home, and a lot of time to do things that you didn't do before.  We are training using the means made available to us by the club, since we cannot ever let football take a back seat.
Clearly, people talk about fitness and the way of replacing the usual daily work at home, but can spending so much time away from training also have an impact on a tactical/footballing level?  Bearing in mind that you were working with a new coach...
 - It's true that tactics are important, and even more so in modern-day football.  We have grasped the Coach's ideas, and you don't forget that. We will have to step it up when we go back to training.  People will remember everything though, and there won't be any problems.
Regarding a return to the league season, which won't be happening any time soon, what do you think should be done to bring the season to an end?
- I don't know what can happen.  This is here to stay for a while, and I don't know what they will do to bring the season to an end.  It's difficult, but there are people who have to take the decisions.  We just have to wait and hope that everything gets solved.
The current situation means that we have a lot of time to think, and to take a look back in time at your best moment since arriving at Real Oviedo.
- The nicest moment since I've been here has been playing against Sporting and beating them, especially given it was at home.  It was a nice moment and I want it to happen again.
Have you spoken with Arturo (Elías)?  What has he said to you?
- We talk constantly.  He sends us encouragement and his support, takes an interest in how the situation is here, and asks us what we are thinking. As I said, this doesn't depend on us.  We have to let time pass and allow normality to return.
As the Club Captain, do you have direct contact with AFE, or does the union contact you?
- I speak with them daily.  I am in contact with Diego Ribas and they inform us about the situation and the measures that they are adopting.
- I want to make the most of the opportunity to send my best wishes to everybody.  All the best.
