Rodrigo Ríos appeared before the Press this morning having been one of the key players in yesterday's important victory. After scoring the first goal yesterday and featuring heavily in the second, he said "scoring is pleasing for a forward and a reward for the hard work. I am very happy with it, because I hadn't scored for a while."
Regarding his own performance and the team's victory yesterday, Rodri highlighted that "I don't know if it was the best performance (of the season), but it was definitely one of the best. We all played well, and when that happens you always stand out a bit more on an individual level."
Asked how the squad was feeling after the victory, the striker said that "we celebrate for a while whenever the team wins. We are all happy. They were down at the bottom too and we had to win."
With respect to what the team has been lacking which has prevented it from fighting for bigger targets this season, the attacker reasoned that "it's a very long season and you need consistency to fight to be at the top of the table. That's what we've been missing."
Asked when he believes that the team will be completely free from danger, Rodrigo commented that "you are safe when you are statistically safe. We have to keep working until that is the case, starting with the very next
match."
Finally, regarding his personal future, Rodrigo explained that "there's no room in my head to think about next year. All I'm thinking about is working to make sure the team stays up. I'm going to keep training and working to that end. We will see what happens at the end of the year." He also emphasised that his goal tally is not the most important thing, despite still being determined to battle to finish the season as the club's top scorer.
