The Press Room at El Requexón today saw right back Diegui Johannesson presented with the award for April's 'Jugador Cinco Estrellas' Player of the Month. The Asturian, who has reclaimed a starting place in recent weeks and scored the winning goal in the derby win at El Molinón, has now been recognised by fans of Los Azules. Supporters selected between the five players proposed by the beer company on the Twitter profile @futbolmahou, with the full back winning the most votes.
After receiving the award, Johannesson responded to a selection of the questions put to him by fans of Los Azules on social media:
What does it mean to you to win this prize?
For me this is a prize for my effort throughout the year. I'm proud and it's a reward.
Who do you owe being a footballer to?
To the person who gave me the opportunity to play professional football, which was Sergio Egea, and to the person who gave me a chance in the B team, which was Ivan Ania.
Do you consider it to be a farewell prize?
You never know. If I play during what's left of the season, score goals, and they offer me a renewal, you never know.
On a scale of 0 to 10, how much does the team wants fans back in the Tartiere?
A lot. Football without fans is not football.
Which forward did you find hardest to mark? And of all of the teammates you've had, who do you think has been the best technically?
There are a lot, but the one I struggled most against was Ebert. The teammate with most ability is Riki.
How did you feel after scoring against our biggest rival and winning at their ground?
I can't put it into words. I went into it on the back of a season without playing, and then what happened that week happened. There are no words. It's the best moment of my footballing career.
