Real Oviedo travelled to Murcia today for the LaLiga SmartBank Matchday 28 fixture against FC Cartagena. Álvaro Cervera opted for a starting eleven made up of: Braat, Lucas, Rodri Tarín, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Moro, Luismi, Mangel, Viti, Koba and Manu Vallejo.

The first half got off to the worst possible start for Los Azules. Cartagena took the lead in just the 7th minute through a goal from Iván Martos. The full back fired home from long range, giving Quentin Braat no chance. The Asturians would have a great chance to level the scoring shortly afterwards through Raúl Moro. The young attacker ran onto a through ball from Vallejo which left him one-on-one with the keeper, but his effort went over the bar.

Despite this great opportunity, it would be the hosts who grabbed the second goal just before halftime. Musto made the most of a 38th minute free kick to head home his side's second goal. Moro would have another good chance in first-half stoppage time, but his shot was denied by Aarón this time.

Manu Vallejo would go close to cutting the deficit after halftime. Following a fine counter attack, the winger tried his luck from the edge of the area, but his shot went just wide of the upright. Cervera turned to his bench, bringing on Vetusta player Enol Rodríguez for his debut at halftime, followed by Leo Sequeira and Montoro in the 57th minute, and Borja Sánchez and Camarasa in the 72nd.

Los Carbayones did not give up, and got their reward with a goal in the 80th minute. Leo Sequeira made the most of a great Abel Bretones cross to head home and cut the deficit. The team pushed forward in their relentless search of an equaliser. Ángel Montoro fired just wide of the post from range in the 90th minute. The referee added four minutes of stoppage time, but it wasn't enough, as Real Oviedo fell to defeat at the Estadio Municipal Cartagonova.
