Having picked up three points from yesterday's trip to the Nova Creu Alta and resumed training today, Real Oviedo winger Marco Sangalli appeared before the Press.
The Basque winger sees the victory as being "important because of the work we have been doing." He highlighted that it was achieved "with players who haven't been playing, but the team was at the level required. We had homegrown players on the field yesterday and it's something to be proud of. They played a great game."
Discussing further those players who hadn't been getting much game time, Sangalli commented that "we are in a league season that is a new experience for all of us, with a lot of games in quick succession. Football has changed and there are more back-up players. It's good that the players who hadn't been playing could contribute."
Asked about the team's aspirations, the winger said that "it's a tightly-squeezed division. We are currently sticking in the middle of the table, but we have had very good numbers in recent matches. We have to focus on the games remaining this year and then we will see what we are going to fight for."
With respect to his goalscoring record, with four goals so far this season, Sangalli admitted that "the goals are secondary. The important thing is that the team creates. We all have to contribute. I try to improve and I am working on it. I had more assists at this stage last season. One tries to be up there in all areas, and it's not just about improving in front of goal." In addition, he stated that "I've appeared at some key moments, but so have other teammates. The move for yesterday's goal was very nice. The work my teammates do is important, and it's all about helping the team."
Speaking about his fine start to the season, as one of the players to have played most minutes, the winger highlighted that "you enjoy it and also suffer a lot. Without suffering you can't then enjoy it. I am happy to participate and I have ambition to keep growing."
Finally, asked whether he will remain at the club long term, Sangalli declared that "I am happy to be here. I am reaching a key point in my footballing maturity. I hope to continue enjoying being at Real Oviedo."
