Today saw the first preseason friendly match of the summer for Álvaro Cervera's side. Los Azules came up against Racing de Santander in El Berrón and opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Lucas Ahijado, David Costas, Oier Luengo, Abel Bretones, Yayo, Jimmy, Camarasa, Viti, Sebas Moyano and Álex Millán.

The match was very even, and Real Oviedo would create the first chance of the encounter in the 10th minute. Viti Rozada almost opened the scoring with a fine long-range strike which went just wide.

There were very few further opportunities for either side until Lago Junior went close for Racing in the 43rd minute, with goalkeeper Leo Román making a good save to keep the score at 0-0. On the brink of halftime, Álex Millán threatened the Cantabrians following some fine play from Lucas and Viti Rozada, but his attempt was blocked.

Álvaro Cervera made seven changes to the starting eleven for the second half, with Pomares, Charbel, Javi Mier, Hugo Rama, Nico, Romario Ibarra and Masca entering the fray. In the 60th minute, the young Portuguese striker would try his luck with an overhead kick from a fine Charbel cross, but his effort went over the bar.

The second half continued in a similar fashion to the first, with very few chances and the two teams battling to dominate the ball. Just when it seemed that penalties would be necessary to determine the winner of the first edition of the Trofeo del Ayuntamiento de Siero, Jorge Delgado fired past Leo Román to give Racing de Santander the victory.

Real Oviedo, who had trained in the morning prior to the match, has now completed its first friendly match of the summer. The team will now depart for Mexico, where they will play matches against Pachuca and Coyotes.
