Real Oviedo defender Pierre Cornud appeared before the media this morning, responding to their questions. He began by analysing his individual situation, being heavily involved at the start of this season. "I came here to be available to the Coach. I wasn't sure how much I would play, but I was ready for anything." The full back believes that "everything can be improved on. I can contribute more in defence and in attack, but let's take it step by step. It's the start of the season."
Regarding the team and the competition in defence, the French full back said that "there are very good, solid defensive players. We've seen in the matches we've played so far that there have been good defensive performances." He also stated that the whole team's work in that area was important. "We all, including the Gaffer, believe that it's important to keep clean sheets, because that makes it easier to win or at least to pick up points."
With respect to what he thinks the team's best attribute is, he reasoned that "we are creating unity. We have a good group. It's only the beginning, but we feel good together. That could be the strength of this team." Finally, regarding the objectives, Pierre said that "the important thing is to take it a week at a time and pick up points. It's too early to talk about anything, we are just thinking about Girona." He concluded by saying that Girona as an opponent are "interesting. They've always been up there, fighting to go up. I'm sure it will be a hard-fought match."
