After the morning training session at El Requexón, Alfredo Ortuño was presented to the gathered media in the Press Room at the Carlos Tartiere.

The forward was welcomed to the club by Director of Football Miguel Pérez Cuesta ‘Michu’. The striker began by talking about how his move to Real Oviedo came about, saying that “the conversations with Michu excited me. Every time I came here to play I saw the size of the club and it struck a chord with me. It was hard work (to do the deal), but I’m here at last. I’ve stayed calm. I gave my word that I’d come here or else I wouldn’t go anywhere. I knew it would work out in the end and, with excitement and hunger, it did work out.

Regarding his expectations for his arrival at Los Azules, Ortuño highlighted that “I want to get back to enjoying my football. I’ve got my excitement back. I’ve been given a great reception and I hope to repay it with hard work. I’ve been an out-and-out striker at all the clubs I’ve played at and that’s what Sergio Egea wants. I want to give that and a little more.”

Asked about the competition in attack, the striker commented that “the level’s risen and that’s good. There’s always competition and that’s good for everyone.”

With respect to how he sees the team and the aspirations of Real Oviedo, the striker said that “it’s an interesting team and we’ll put in a real fight. We have some top players and I think we can become a good team and put together a nice year. There are a lot of promotion candidates this year. It’s an interesting, nice league and we hope to be up there and make our fans happy.”

Finally regarding his chances of playing some minutes on Saturday against Alavés, Ortuño concluded by stating that “I’ve done preseason with Albacete and I’m available to the Coach.”
