Following the loss of Francesc Arnau, the final matchday of the season, which took Real Oviedo to Pasarón to face Pontevedra, turned into a difficult box-ticking exercise for Los Azules. Nonetheless, the team attempted to cling onto the pride, courage, and determination associated with Los Carbayones with all its strength, to achieve what would have been an incredible feat of survival.
The B team ended up losing 3-0, despite the fact that Emilio Cañedo's side had been in the game up until the hour mark. The Asturians threatened and tried to find a way through, but were unable to conjure up the final ball to open the scoring. Pontevedra made the most of a defensive mistake to make the score 1-0, before the home support pushed the hosts on to score two further goals. Real Oviedo Vetusta kept fighting until the final whistle, but could not find the desired reward.
In a sad weekend for Oviedismo, the B team was forced to play its match today by the Spanish Football Federation. Real Oviedo Vetusta is relegated to the 3ª RFEF Division and will work towards climbing back up the divisions next season.
