Real Oviedo picked one point at Nou Estadi in a hard fought game up to the final whistle and had to overcome a series of drawbacks in the form of an injured player and being one man down after a sent-off. The opposition was a direct rival in the promotion race, who sit on the immediate lower position on the league table.

The game started with Nastic having more options on the attack, but the first scare came from Jonathan Villa in the Nastic box, with an attempt off their defence. After those first minutes when Nastic pressed up front, Real Oviedo got more possession and created some chances on Reina's goal. Firstly, it was a long shot from Jon Erice aiming at the far post that went wide. Then, Borja Valle made an attempt from the left edge of the box towards the top corner of the goal. Next, in the last minutes of the first half, Miño excelled on a one on one chance of Emaná, whose shot went wide. Once again, Miño saved another attempt from Nastic. It was then when David Fernández got injured, who was substituted by Dani Bautista as a centre back.

In the second half, Real Oviedo got the control of the midfield and their intensity did not yield as José Fernández progressed along the right wing to produce a long shot that when wide. Miño had to intervene again and with the passing of time Real Oviedo found it difficult to created more chances on Reina's goal. Just on the 90th minute mark, Verdés saw his second yellow and got sent off.

All in all, one point for each side, that allow Real Oviedo to close the gap on the automatic promotion spots.
