The Press Room at the NMR Carlos Tartiere hosted the official presentation of Gabriel Brazão as a new Real Oviedo player this lunchtime.
Real Oviedo Director of Football Francesc Arnau appeared alongside the Brazilian keeper, who he described as "a young player, with huge potential and tremendous attributes. We've sorted out the goalkeeping position now with him coming in, with two goalkeepers who have shown great performances in recent months. Brazão has character, good physique and is going to pick up experience which will let him become the great keeper he is showing
signs of being. He's going to build on his foundations here and it will allow him to grow."
The Brazilian began by analysing his arrival, declaring that "I'm coming to Real Oviedo to help, to put in a good season and achieve our objectives. I liked the project which Real Oviedo put to me, as well as its fans and the way they help the team. When the opportunity arose I didn't think twice. I am happy to be here. If things go well then we are going to all be together and we are going achieve good things in Oviedo."
Regarding his experience of LaLiga Smartbank, Brazão commented that "I was left with a very good feeling. It's a tough league of a high standard, and every match is key. We have to be prepared, because there are normally very few points separating first and last place."
Asked about possible comparisons with Lunin, the Brazilian reasoned that "they are different projects. Lunin is a great goalkeeper, I am too, but it's something different. I was excited by the project." In addition, with respect to how he defines himself as a goalkeeper, Brazão stated that "I am a complete keeper, with personality. I enjoy pressure. I know how to play with my feet, and deal with long shots, one on ones..."
Discussing the topic of pressure, Gabriel argued that "in Brazil, the father of the family has pressure when he goes out at five in the morning to find food. I play football with responsibility, but without pressure. I enjoy it responsibly."
Finally, talking about his knowledge of the club, the shot stopper said that "I knew about Real Oviedo. I asked my teammates from Albacete about the city and they told me very good things. I came here (with Albacete) last season and the fans and the stadium here are first division level. Let's hope that the fans can come back soon. The fans here help, and let's hope that they can be supporting us from within the ground soon."
