Real Oviedo striker Samuel Obeng appeared in the Press Room this morning following yesterday's victory over Ponferradina. He began by saying that "Mondays are different after you've won", and explained that "it was important to get the three points because we were coming off the back of a tough defeat."
Regarding the chances created by the team yesterday despite a lack of possession, and the high efficiency rate in front of goal, Samuel Obeng put it simply, reasoning that "whoever scores one goal more than their opponent wins. We had chances to score more, but the important thing was to win."
Asked about one of the clearest opportunities, where instead of shooting Obeng decided to attempt to pass to Borja Bastón, while the score was still 1-0, Samu explained that "we are both competing to score more, but we are also both playing for the same team and that is the important thing."
Obeng expressed that he was "grateful" for the unconditional support of the Oviedistas, particularly at a ground where Real Oviedo have traditionally struggled. He said that "we won at what is a difficult ground for us. Our fans didn't let us down and were with us like they always are. (We are) very grateful."
He concluded by saying that the priority now is to keep working and "focus on Málaga now, get the three points, and make the Tartiere a fortress."
