Real Oviedo went into today's clash with Racing de Santander at the Carlos Tartiere in search of a third consecutive victory, looking to prolong their good run of form and pick up another important win. For today's match Luis Carrión opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Viti, Dani Calvo, Oier Luengo, Abel Bretones, Colombatto, Luismi, Cazorla, Sebas Moyano, Dubasin, and Borja Bastón.

Real Oviedo looked to dominate the early stages, trying to open the scoring right from the first minute. Luismi sent the first warning in just the 5th minute, with a header which forced the away keeper into action. Racing hit back quickly, with Arana having a very clear opportunity. The forward went through one on one with Leo Román, but the keeper made a great save to keep the score at 0-0. There were opportunities right the way through the first half, before Peque eventually gave Racing the lead just before the interval. The youngster made no mistake after going through one on one, and the away team went in for half-time with a 1-0 advantage.

After the break the Gaffer turned to his bench, bringing on Alemão and Paulino de la Fuente as Real Oviedo looked for an equaliser. Just as they were enjoying their brightest spell, referee Fuentes Molina showed an inexplicable red card to Oier Luengo. Just a few minutes later, Sangalli received the same fate, and both teams were forced to play the final 20 minutes with ten men. In the 72nd minute Alemão sent the home fans into raptures, with a wonderful finish which made the Oviedistas believe in a late comeback. Seoane and Masca came on in the 83rd minute, and the Portuguese attacker had the final chance of the match. A ball swung into the box by Abel Bretones just evaded Masca's desperate attempts to convert the winner.

This point saw Real Oviedo move onto a total of 48 and remain in seventh place, with fixtures still to be played this weekend. Thoughts now turn to next weekend's league fixture away at Alcorcón.
