Real Oviedo striker, Joselu, today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

After the victory against CD Numancia, the forward declared that “the team is in very high spirits; the other results have given us new life. We are reliant on other results too, but the match in Tenerife will be a ‘cup final.’

With respect to the need to win at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, the Andalusian understands that “the way we get the victories is not important; we just have to get the points. We will try to get all nine points remaining and see if we are lucky enough to reach the playoffs. Tenerife have spent a lot of money and they are strong at home, but they are on a poor run right now. Winning is the only option for us, and we will go after the three points.”

When asked about his numbers and how he evaluates his first season with ‘Los Azules,’ Joselu admitted that “I’m the most demanding person with myself; I critique myself very frequently. I expected much more of myself. I’ve not got many goals, but we hope that this has been a season of adaptation. There are still some matches left for me to improve my numbers.”

Lastly, regarding the team’s chances of reaching the playoffs in the last three matches, the striker noted that “football is like that. We go from heroes to villains within a week. After the Málaga match, we focused on having a good attitude, and the coaching staff did a great job. Now we get to have another go and we hope to take advantage of this opportunity. Winning is the only option in Tenerife; any setback will end all our hopes of getting into the playoffs.”
