Real Oviedo full back, Diegui Johannesson, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón, after the first team underwent a recovery session this morning.

Following the draw earned at El Alcoraz yesterday, the Asturian pointed out that, “it’s an important point away at the leaders. We are left with a slightly sour taste because we gave everything, but we’re happy. They didn’t have any shots apart from the goal. That says a lot about the work we are doing and what the Coach wants. We are on a good run.” In addition, talking about how the team went into the match against a difficult opponent, Johannesson stated that, “we went out there very intensely, with the intention to pressure them. They had some problems at the start, then we had a poor period, but the second half was more even. It was a match between two teams at the top of the table.”

Asked about the team’s strength of the team, and how they didn’t give up at any point despite falling behind, the defender admitted that, “at the start of the season we were letting our heads drop, but now we bounce back. This is what allows us to be up at the top of the table.”

Real Oviedo are again away from the Carlos Tartiere this weekend, as they visit Vallecas to face Rayo Vallecano. With respect to the encounter with the Madrid-based side, the wing back said that, “they are two very difficult trips, against two of the best teams in the league. Rayo beat us at home earlier in the season. They are a good team, but we will go looking for the three points.”

Asked for an assessment of the first half of the season, Johannesson stated that, “I don’t want to make an assessment and it’s a long season. We must take it one game at a time, and try to extend this positive run. We will keep working to finish as high as possible.”

Regarding Toché’s return to the team and what it means for the group, the Asturian responded that, “Toché is a great footballer, who has given a lot to us and who will give us a lot more still. He will work his way into the team and we all know what he means to the team.” However, he warned that, “Linares is also in great form and giving a lot to the team.”

Finally, speaking about his individual performances and what Juan Antonio Anquela demands from him each match, Johannesson said, “I’m very happy. The Coach asks me to stretch the play and get into the box to score. I try my best, and it went well in the first thirty minutes,” he concluded.
