Real Oviedo today fell to a tough 1-0 home defeat against Girona, with former Oviedista Yoel Bárcenas scoring the winner.
Ziganda opted to select almost the same starting eleven as last weekend, with the only change seeing Obeng come into the team in place of Borja Sánchez alongside Blanco Leschuk up front, with Nahuel moving out onto the wing. The Catalan side dominated the play during the first thirty minutes. One controversial passage of play saw Tejera brought down in the box, but the referee waved away appeals. Gustavo Blanco Leschuk was forced off after a heavy landing, and went for immediate treatment. Borja Sánchez came on in his place, with Nahuel moving infield to accompany Obeng up front. Borja Sánchez created the clearest chance of the first half, with a left-wing cross which Edgar headed just wide of the target.
The game followed a similar pattern after the interval, until Bárcenas produced a fine individual piece of play to score what would prove to be the winning goal. Ziganda brought on Rodrigo and Borja Valle to freshen up the attack, and Real Oviedo pushed forward, but were unable to convert the two chances they had.
Ziganda was dismissed with a straight red card after the full-time whistle, having approached the referee and made observations about decisions during the match. Today's result was a tough blow for the team, who will be back in training at 10:30 tomorrow at El Requexón.
