Real Oviedo travelled to Valladolid with the objective of securing an important victory which would allow them to continue looking upwards. The Asturians went into the encounter in high spirits following last weekend's 5-0 triumph against Burgos CF and Luis Carrión opted for a starting eleven made up of Leo Román, Viti, Oier Luengo, Dani Calvo, Abel Bretones, Jimmy, Colombatto, Seoane, Dubasin, Sebas Moyano, and Alemão.

The hosts emerged the stronger for the match and, after going close several times, they would take the lead through Monchu in the 18th minute. Los Azules looked to hit back as soon as possible against a good Real Valladolid side, but the home team stood strong defensively. Colombatto tried to catch Masip out with a free kick, but the keeper tipped his effort out for a corner. In the final moments of the first half Alemão would have Real Oviedo's best opportunity. The Brazilian forward hit the post from a Colombatto corner, and the score remained 1-0 at the half-time interval.

Just after the break, Sebas Moyano had a great chance from a one-on-one after running onto a Dubasin through ball. However, his shot went wide. Real Valladolid would make the Asturians pay following that miss, adding the second and third goals in quick succession. Amath capitalised on two defensive errors in less than five minutes to make the score 3-0 in the 50th minute and seal the hosts' victory. Cazorla, Borja Bastón, Luismi, and Masca came on as the visitors looked to fight back, but the pattern of the match remained the same. Valladolid were able to protect their advantage, while Los Azules did not really threaten any consolation goals. Luis Carrión also brought on Borja Sánchez for Colombatto in the final stages, before Dubasin fired wide in the 89th minute. It was Real Oviedo's final opportunity in a match in which Real Valladolid were on top from start to finish.

The defeat sees Real Oviedo finish Matchday 28 on 41 points and looking to get back to winning ways next weekend against Levante UD at the Carlos Tartiere.
