Haissem Hassan appeared before the media after Real Oviedo's last match to analyze the draw achieved by the team and the current situation of the blue squad. The footballer acknowledged that the result left negative feelings in the locker room, insisting that the team must always aim for victory.
“It's a tough blow to end up drawing. You can't leave there with anything other than a victory. It's something that keeps happening, and we need to find the solution to improve and manage matches better. A point is never a great result for us,” he explained.
The Oviedo player pointed out that the team was once again penalized after slightly lowering their intensity when they had the lead. “We struggle to maintain the lead, and it has happened to us before. We ease up a bit and fall back. In the Second Division, that was often enough to win, but in the First Division, you have to offer more. Continuing to attack is the best solution,” he added.
Hassan also highlighted the team's evolution since Almada's arrival on the bench, emphasizing a change in attitude and footballing approach. “With Almada, there is improvement. We play more aggressively, higher up, and propose more in every match. Since he arrived, we are much better,” he stated.
Additionally, he positively valued his relationship with the coach: “He talks to me a lot, knows my qualities, and tries to help me before and during matches. He asks me to take on players and pays close attention to me both defensively and tactically.”
Despite the standings situation, the footballer sent a message of confidence. “There is material to believe. The feelings are good, even though they don't bring points. We have to win three points at a time because otherwise, it will be very difficult. We are not that far off, and there are many matches left. We have to believe; if we don't believe, it will be impossible.”
The player also made collective self-criticism about match management. “We all have to improve the timing of the game. We are all at fault. The best defense is a good attack, and this can't keep happening. It already happened in Girona, and it's unforgivable. We need to stay calmer, maybe also due to a lack of experience, because we do the hardest part, which is taking the lead.”
Regarding the next match against Atlético de Madrid, Hassan highlighted the difficulty of the opponent, although he trusts the support of the blue fans. “They are a great team, with top players at a world level, but every match is different. The Tartiere will have a lot of people, and that is an advantage for us. We can compete against anyone.”
