Matchday 10 was the first of the second half of the season for Emilio Cañedo's side, as Real Oviedo Vetusta faced Unión Popular de Langreo at Gánzabal. The match ended with a point apiece.
Emilio Cañedo made a number of changes to the starting eleven that had taken to the field last time out against Burgos, this time opting for B. Hórreo; Fran Pacoli, Pedro Inglés, Ando, Jorge Mier; Rober, Joselu G., Guille Bernabéu; Eloy Ordóñez, V. Teles and Javi Cueto. Today's first half was a high-tempo, hard-fought affair. Los Azules took the lead in the opening minutes through a fine Vanderson goal, but Langreo equalised mere moments later. With the score now 1-1, the match entered a period where the side from the capital of Asturias controlled the ball, moving it from one side of the pitch to the other, but Langreo were the more threatening of the two teams. One such attack saw the hosts add their second, and Langreo went in for halftime with a 2-1 lead. Real Oviedo Vetusta improved as the second half progressed, keeping possession of the ball and putting the home side under pressure. Emilio Cañedo brought on Erik Aguado, who gave Los Carbayones the spark they needed to level the scores. Vanderson again applied the finishing touch, with a fine strike from the left-hand side which left Adrian Torre with no chance. Vetusta had the better of the final stages, as they created various opportunities to take home the three points. Ton Ripoll, Prada and Steven were the other substitutes used.
Real Oviedo Vetusta thus secured an important point from a difficult away fixture, which will provide a boost to morale ahead of the next fixture, against CD Covadonga. The fixture against their fellow Oviedo-based side will kick off at 12:00 on Sunday at El Requexón.
