To mark the derby that had been scheduled to be played at El Molinón against Sporting de Gijón last weekend, both teams began last week by launching a series of activities under the hashtag #EsteDerbiLoGanamosTodos (We all win this derby).  The idea was to bring awareness to and promote the battle against COVID-19, as well as to thank the workers who are putting all their effort and hard work into trying to improve the exceptional situation we are experiencing during these tough times.
One of these initiatives saw a computer game version of the derby, with two players from each Asturian side involved.  In addition to its aim of providing light-hearted entertainment, it sought to raise funds for the battle against COVID-19.  Real Oviedo reached a total of €2,015.
The funds raised will go to the Red Cross' RESPONDE Plan against COVID-19, which seeks to help people in vulnerable situations and the general population, through the mobilisation and actions of more than 40,000 volunteers.  They will make the planned responses a reality throughout the nation, using their more than 1,400 points of care.
The Red Cross will provide support to a million people, who will receive attention and telephone companionship.  In addition, 25,000 families will receive basic supplies, 16,000 people will be given support in terms of employment, and 3,000 homeless people will be given a place to sleep.
