Burgos and El Plantío turned blue today, with Real Oviedo backed by mass travelling support for the fixture.
Real Oviedo made a change in formation and several alterations to the starting eleven for today's encounter. Los Azules saw an opening goal ruled out for the very slightest of offside calls, following several minutes of VAR check. A long ball from Mossa saw Bastón go through and volley home, but the officials determined that he had been offside. There were few further chances in the first half, and the sides went in for the interval with the score 0-0.
Another opportunity to take the lead would arrive in the second half when a VAR check saw Real Oviedo awarded a penalty. Borja Bastón converted from the spot, and team and fans came together at the bottom of the stand to celebrate, although there was still a long way to go. The Asturians had a few chances to extend the lead, while also using all of their substitutions. VAR was called into action once more, this time awarding Burgos a spot kick, but Juanma's effort went over the bar. Los Azules defended their lead to the death to pick up three crucial points, bringing joy to the Oviedistas who showed relentless support throughout the match.
