Real Oviedo midfielder Edgar today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
The Catalan began by expressing his feelings following yesterday's match against Almería at the NMR Carlos Tartiere, saying that "we faced a great team, who outplayed us in the first half. You could see our plan in the second half, when we played the match in their half. Their second goal came from an isolated passage of play and was annoying. There are two days until the next fixture. We have to correct our mistakes and focus on Alcorcón."
Regarding yesterday's defeat, the midfielder admitted that "it's annoying because I think we deserved the draw. We believed and didn't let our heads drop after the goal. All defeats hurt, but you can see that we are doing things well and that is the way forward. If we play like we did in the second half, we will win a lot of matches."
Real Oviedo will have another chance to pick up three points at the NMR Carlos Tartiere this Thursday, when they face an in-form Alcorcón side. Discussing the recent improvement in the Madrid-based side, the midfielder reasoned that "nobody gives up in this division. It is going to be a difficult match. Alcorcón are coming here in good form and have won a lot of matches in recent weeks. It will be a difficult game. We are working a lot, we have clear ideas, and we know what we have to offer. We are a great team and we have to go for the three points."
Asked about fixture congestion, the Catalan stated that "I'm feeling good. It's a season with a lot of tightly-packed matches and midweek games, but I'm doing fine." In addition, regarding to his yellow card tally of nine in fifteen matches, Edgar admitted that "it's too many. A few of them were debatable, but it's something I have to improve on. I will try to put the tenth one off in the coming matches. If they have to show me it in the coming games then I hope it's the result of a situation requiring it."
Finally, regarding the need to pick up points in the next two games in order to move closer to the top of the division, Edgar highlighted that "all of the matches are key. If we had picked up points yesterday then we would have moved closer, but we just have to focus on the next game. The next one is the most important one."
