Real Oviedo midfielder Carlos Doro appeared in the Press Room at El Requex贸n this morning ahead of the first training session of the week.
The midfielder spoke to the gathered members of the media today, analysing the weekend's encounter at Abanca Riazor. "I don't think it was a good team performance, because we like to have the ball. We always look to dominate, but they took the ball off us and we found it difficult. They didn't create much since we did a great job in defence, but we want to dominate more. I didn't feel good, and I didn't manage to get the ball. It was a competitive match where it was about getting the three points. There is room for improvement, and we have to work in order to feel more comfortable."
With respect to his preferences in terms of formation and whether he prefers to play further forward or more defensively, Dotor reasoned that "we have players out in the middle, and we have to adapt to what the team asks of us. I usually play further back, but I feel comfortable wherever I'm put. I want to perform at my best."
Asked about the importance of picking up three points in the opening league encounter, the midfielder stated that "it's difficult to win matches in this division, particularly away from home. It wasn't a great match, but getting three points is always very positive. These matches win you leagues. It's easy when you play well, but when you don't play so well it is important to pick up victories."
Regarding the differences between his first few weeks in Oviedo and his time in Celta, Dotor commented that "you can notice a different tempo with the ball, but there are good players here and I am happy. I think the Gaffer wants us to have the ball, and the team has got quality. There is competitiveness, and I am happy."
Asked what it would mean to the squad to get another three points this weekend against CD Castell贸n, the midfielder reasoned that "that would be the ideal case, since we know how hard it is to win. Real Oviedo hadn't won the opening match for a long time, but now we are thinking about getting another victory. We have to give it everything and work to compete in the best way possible. We have to have identity and dominate matches. If we want to be up there and have a good year then we have to be demanding. When you win everything seems nicer, then when you lose everything is dramatic. The Gaffer will show us the video and we will analyse our mistakes."
Finally, regarding the next opponent, CD Castell贸n, Dotor highlighted that "whenever I've been there it's been a tough ground to go to, I will be ready. They push you a lot and press high. It's not going to be an easy match and we have to be more focused than ever. All of the opponents are going to be difficult."
