This was a match in which everybody involved knew that there were more than just three points at stake.  Real Oviedo, backed by around 2,000 travelling fans, needed the victory against a relegation rival who started the day on the same number of points as Ziganda's side.  He made several changes for his first match, bringing Grippo and Christian into the left side of the defence.  Sebas Coris was on the right wing, and Ortuño partnered Rodri up front.
The home side dominated the first half, and scored what would prove to be the winner in the fifteenth minute.  Real Oviedo tried to respond, but did not threaten the Galician side's net at any time.
Sangalli entered the action at half time and Real Oviedo put in an improved performance, going in search of the equaliser.  The opening five minutes of the second half saw the Asturians have several clear chances to level the scores.  Ortuño headed wide and Rodrigo had a goal disallowed for offside. Sangalli then had a chance from a rebound, before Ortuño was denied by the home keeper.  Ibra came on and Los Azules continued to push for an equaliser, but without finding a way through.  Lugo scored another in the final stages, but it was disallowed by VAR.
The travelling fans at the Anxo Carro showed their anger and deep disappointment with the team.  Real Oviedo will resume training at 10:30 tomorrow at El Requexón, behind closed doors.
