After picking up an important point against Compostela last time out, Real Oviedo Vetusta were in action back today, as they welcomed Gimástica de Torrelavega to El Requexón for Matchday 19 in Group 1 of the Segunda RFEF Division. Having earnt seven of the last nine points available, Los Azules were looking to maintain their recent good run of form, and Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of Marco; Charbel, Lucas Laso, René Pérez, Omar Falah; Yayo, Víctor Blanco, Izan, Miguel Cuesta; Enol and Masca.

The B team had the best possible start to the encounter. In just the third minute of the encounter Masca was brought down inside the area, and the referee had no doubt in awarding the penalty. The Portuguese forward took the responsibility, stepping up and firing past the away keeper to open the scoring. The goal did not change the game plan, as Jaime Álvarez's team continued to look to take the initiative and control the game.

Los Carbayones continued to get forward, and Miguel Cuesta would double the advantage in the 12th minute. The number 17 fired home a fine, low, left-footed strike to extend the lead. The visitors barely threatened Marco in the Vetusta goal during the first half, and only a Somavilla effort just before halftime, which struck the crossbar, would cause a scare.

After the break, Vetusta went down to ten men as a result of Enol's dismissal and had to play virtually the entire half a man down. Despite the setback, and with Jaime Álvarez making changes, the hosts were able to hold on to their two-goal lead and keep a clean sheet. Marco made a fantastic save to keep out a 70th minute effort from Gimnástica de Torrelavega, which might have brought the visitors back into the game.

Real Oviedo Vetusta were able to secure a second consecutive victory at El Requexón and move up to twelfth in the table with 26 points. That is three points more than Rayo Cantabria, who currently sit in the final relegation playoff place.
